The outstanding personal care of UNMC's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation is available to your patients. The Office of International Healthcare Services (OIHS) customizes our services to meet the unique needs of international patients. All arrangements for visits are handled promptly with courtesy, professionalism, and respect for cultural background. The OIHS offers these services:

Review of Medical Records and Consultations:
Patients' medical records can be faxed, mailed or electronically transmitted to our office along with films and test results.

Patient Coordinator:
A patient care coordinator organizes all aspects of a patient's visit, including medical appointments, scheduling, medical care, financial clearance, translation, transportation, and lodging.

Updating Referring Physicians:
Our office keeps referring physicians informed of their patient's care during treatment and follows up to check on the patient's progress after he or she returns home.

Language Interpretation:
We provide interpreters to facilitate communication with physicians, nurses and other hospital personnel.

Financing and Billing:
We provide advance estimates for all charges. Financial counselors will assist patients with other financial matters before, during, and after their visit.patients with other financial matters before, during, and after their visit.

Business Center:
Patients' families may use an on-site resource center, which has a small library, a fax machine, copier and computers with e-mail and Internet connections.

Accommodations:
The Office of International Health Care Services helps patients and their families find accommodations and will arrange for discounted rates at local hotels or apartments when reservations are made through our office.

Travel and Transportation:
We assist patients and their families with travel arrangements to Omaha. An OIHS representative will greet patients at the Omaha airport and accompany them to their living quarters.

Executive Physicals and other Medical Services:
We offer several comprehensive physical check-up options for busy international executives.
